Movie Theater High Prices Conquered

Posted by Rylan Mason | 11:27 PM | 0 comments »

The term coming to a theater near you is an exciting phrase for millions of people. Regardless of whether you are a fan of drama, horror, comedy or whatever, Hollywood has a movie that will satisfy.

That being said , going to the movies is an event that one looks forward to. However, doing so can be a relatively expensive outing. Though society has been somewhat conditioned to pay for it without thinking about it. With the cost of a movie ticket hovering between seven and ten dollars. It quickly becomes apparent that a date or family outing that involves a movie can be a costly one.

But again, if you are like me, you make it past the price of the movie ticket only to realize that the ticket price was just the teaser. If you want refreshments with your movie, you are due for a price shock .

Prices for refreshments have soared to unbelievable heights. A box of candy costs three dollars, a bucket of popcorn four dollars and fifty cents, a soda three dollars, hotdog four dollars, a bottle of water two dollars. No, let me say that again a bottle of water two dollars.

When you take a date with you, a single trip to the movies can cost you over thirty dollars. If you take a family of six (meaning 2 parents 4 kids), you might as well re-mortgage your home before you go. Seriously though, dont mortgage your house, but you might need to sell a bit of your jewelry to pull the costs back into range.

If you see all of the blockbusters that come to theaters and purchase snacks, you could spend over 120 dollars per week or per month depending on how many people you take with you. Add gas, dinner and your night out has become a major investment.

Movie theater ticket and food prices are out of control, says Tina Landry. I sneak snacks in if I want them. I know that it is wrong but so are the prices they charge for snacks.

Though many movie-goers grit their teeth and pay extraordinary prices for what they could buy at the store for a fraction of the cost, there are others that simply refuse to be blatantly over charged for their entertainment needs.

Lots of movie-goers are turning to the internet to help finance their insatiable appetites for Hollywoods products. The Movie Theater Toolbar is changing the perception of what is affordable. By allowing movie goers to easily earn money online to feed the entertainment need monster, the Movie Theater Toolbar eliminates the need for movie goers to cringe when they see the prices at movie theaters rising as they have done so consistently in the last few years. Using the Movie Theater Toolbar allows movie to go to or rent as many movies as they want without breaking the bank.

The Movie Theater Toolbar interfaces with TypoBounty dot com, a website where website owners offer cash rewards for web surfers to find and report errors on their website. Errors such as misspelled words, punctuation flaws, missing graphics and many more errors, if found and reported are worth two dollars or more each. Many websites have more than 20 errors.

I have told all of my friends about this toolbar says Rena Washington they were glad to hear about it, since they go to the movies all of the time.

The author, John Reed, has 15 years business experience and has had the opportunity to use and review multiple online businesses. You can read more avoiding the money trap of movie theaters at

Every person's situation is different and that is because a debt consolidation loan is based in particular situations. Some may choose to put their home equity at risk to pay off their credits, while some others may be comfortable in taking a consolidation loan that is secured by the equity of their home.

Some consumers could go for the lowest monthly payment; in that case they may be willing to accept a longer loan term as a result. While others would prefer to pay back their debt consolidation loan as quickly as possible, even if that means accepting a higher monthly payment.

Laugh and the Work World Laughs With You

Posted by Rylan Mason | 11:27 PM | 0 comments »

Many of today's work environments are rife with moody bosses and co-workers, repetitive tasks and unpredictable market pressures. Stress abounds. Managers often tell me they can't afford the time or cost for my humor workshops; how can they afford not to address workplace stress.

We know clinically that laughter and play have medicinal qualities, offering physical, psychological and physiological benefits as well. In the workplace, humor and fun can increase productivity, encourage creativity, enhance team building, and thus improve esprit de corps.

While we may not be able to control everything that happens to us in our jobs and work environments, we do have control over how we choose to react. I coach others how to create an environment which is safe and friendly, and use humor to help maintain a healthy balance between the pressure and seriousness which comes from high stakes jobs and a competitive marketplace. Remember that humor starts from within. Being able to laugh at your own foibles goes a long way toward creating a healthy work climate in which to flourish.

The following are activities and strategies for you as individuals, workgroups and managers. Be creative and use these ideas to stimulate your own remedies to workplace stress.

- Adorn your work area with cartoons, headlines or funny photos which bring a smile to your face and visiting co-workers'. Whether you're surrounded by your favorite Pez dispensers childhood, or wry cartoons that speak to your tastes, let your work area comfort and humor you while taking some of the edge off the standard office decor.

- Tap a co-worker to be your humor-partner. Bring a daily joke to share. Commiserate about funny workplace events. Keep each other buoyed with good cheer. When the chips are down your humor partner can chip away at your depression, and vice versa.

- Don't think cubicles limit your humor options. I've seen shower curtains, umbrellas and other devices used effectively to set a light or semi-serious tone. For some, creativity flourishes behind their cubicle's shower curtain. People tampering with your work area? Don't get angry…protect it with yellow "Crime Scene" tape!

- Subscribe to a humor website to be e-mailed a free daily or weekly humorous story, joke and anecdote. Sites such as or are two examples.

Are You Laughin' At Me? One manager, known for his moodiness, acknowledged it with a "Mood-O-Meter" outside his door. Both he and his employees took turns forecasting his mood: from fire-breathing to variable clouds to periodic eruptions…proceed at your own risk. Don't underestimate the power of self-effacing humor for making yourself more accessible and liked.

Room for Laughter. Some companies designate a room, work area or corner of their office as a romper room, where frolicking and silliness is allowed. Whether yours has a punching bag, games, a dartboard or foosball, it's a room for letting off steam and taking a break from the grind.

Whine Not. Everyone loathes whiners yet we all need to blow off steam periodically. One group of creative trainers and their manager decreed Thursdays to be effective whining days. They self-policed themselves the rest of the week, making sure not to whine. Yet even their Thursday gripes had a departmental sanction and somehow seemed healthier. After all, they belly ached together. A ripple effect actually improved the morale of departments adjacent to theirs!

Meting Out Humor. Many professionals approach meetings with trepidation. A dash of humor can make a difference. For regular meetings earmark one or two minutes each meeting for a humorous interlude. In one workgroup a "humor hand" rotates from meeting to meeting. Employees take turns setting a lighter tone to the meeting, insuring everybody is engaged. An anecdote, verbal or physical activity focuses the group on the task at hand and brings colleagues together in a spirit of fun.

When not to use Humor. Not all humor is good humor. Humor that hurts, ostracizes or is cruel will have a detrimental effect on others and you. Strive for humor that is inclusive, creative and captures our human essence. By now you know that sexist, racist, ageist jokes and crude humor are not only inappropriate, but can lead to sanctions, termination or even lawsuits. Be sensitive when telling jokes involving terminations, reductions in force (RIFs) and personal tragedies. Their hurt can linger long after the fact. . When in doubt…leave it out!

Appropriate humor can make hard tasks easier, collaborations fun and certainly make workdays go faster. Laugh, and the work world laughs with you!

You Can Eliminate Scarcity Thinking

Posted by Rylan Mason | 3:27 PM | 0 comments »

Is the law of attraction not working for you? Maybe it's because you think that there is not enough to go around or that you're not good enough or that others always seem to get what you want.

Honestly, I've thought these same things myself. And it's beliefs and it's thoughts like these that work against us and help to sabotage whatever positive work we're doing. the law of attraction works whether you believe it can or not. And it's powered by your most prevalent thoughts.

For most of us, our most prevalent thoughts occur without us ever being aware of them. They come from our subconscious where all of our beliefs have been stored, waiting to be called upon, and used as needed.

Our belief systems are formed by the personal world in which we live; the country in which we are born, the social groups we belong to, the spiritual doctrines to which we adhere, the science we subscribe to, our experiences and relationships with parents, lovers, family, friends and sometimes even strangers, and the level to which we interact with that which is unseen, or the mysteries of the unknown realms - the Source.

All of our experiences get locked away in our subconscious along with our reptilian brain and strung together in a convoluted mass that comes out when needed, most especially when we feel threatened in some way, perceived or real. Ever heard the term pushing my buttons? Those buttons are connected to long-term held beliefs and belief systems. The old method of dealing with this was to remove the buttons. While that may work for some, it is much better to remove the beliefs behind the buttons.

Once you remove your limited beliefs you can replace them with unlimited beliefs that align with your dreams and desires. Some examples of unlimited beliefs are:

oI'm not lucky

oI won't get that job

oNo-one will ever read what I've written

oMary won't go out with me

oBill won't go out with me

oI'm not good enough

oI don't make enough money

oI always get sick at this time of the year

Start listening to your own speech, you will find your limiting beliefs begin with such statements as I can't, I'm not, I have to, it's impossible to. You'll be surprised how much of your conversation stems from your limiting beliefs. And you wonder why the law of attraction isn't working in your life?

It is - it's bringing to you what you primarily focus on whether you're aware of it or not. Now that's a fine howdy-do I bet you're asking - well if I don't know what these beliefs are and they're popping up whether I'm aware of it or not, how am I to ever know what's going on? Your first clue is to listen to your feelings. How do you feel? Do you feel crappy? That's a clue.

One way to attune to your desires is to notice how you feel and change so that you're happy, watch a movie, a comedy, listen to a song you like, call your friend, do something that makes you feel good.

All of these things will work - but it will only change your feelings - not your subconscious beliefs. Changing your subconscious beliefs take work from you. Work and commitment. Some ways to do that are:

oUse positive affirmations

oDevelop a daily gratitude list

oQuit listening to things that create negative thinking in your life

oMeditate

oFind a Life Coach

oUse Neural Linguistic Programming (NLP)

oUse the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

oLearn to Let Go and Let God

What works for you may not work for someone else. But finding what works for you and then practicing it can free up your subconscious from limiting beliefs that once served you, but now no longer do.

The truth of the matter is - it's your journey and you can do what you want. But wouldn't life be so much better if you were free of the beliefs that keep you from really succeeding at what you want in life?

Why I Dumped NetFlix for BlockBuster Online

Posted by Rylan Mason | 11:27 PM | 0 comments »

I've been a NetFlix member for nearly two years now and up

to Monday of last week I have had no complaints.  I noticed however, that

BlockBuster has a similar online DVD rental service but goes beyond NetFlix by

allowing its user to also be able to return movies to their local Blockbuster

store.  Netflix DVDs must be mailed to them and even though there is no shipping

charge, the difference in time between driving to a store to return a rental and

mailing the rental via the post office is more than a day.  That is why I

decided to sign up as a BlockBuster Online user and try out both services.  As I

will show in this review, even though NetFlix invented the online DVD rental

service, Blockbuster is right at its tale.

I can only guess that

Blockbuster had to come up with a creative way of persuading people to try

their online DVD rental service and at the same time stay away from the negative

publicity their retail store received.  What Blockbuster came up with was genius

in my opinion: "Let users receive the DVD rentals over the mail, similar to

NetFlix, however, unlike NetFlix allow users to return the DVDs to their local

store".  This was probably the selling point BlockBuster was going to use.

Another feature that BlockBuster implemented to allow it's customers to receive

movies faster was by initiating an agreement with the Post Office.  An article

from the Boston Globe describes how the company has asked the US Postal Service

to scan Blockbuster return envelopes and send the firm an electronic

notification so customers don't have to wait until the envelopes are actually

delivered before having the next movie on their to-see list sent out.   What

does this mean?  Basically here is the advantage to the renter:

1. Monday:  You receive your DVD movies through the

mail, 1 from BlockBuster and 1 from NetFlix.

2. Tuesday:  You drop off both movies at your local

Post Office.  The Post Office Scans in both movies.  However, the difference is

that BlockBuster HQ is electronically notified that their movie has been

returned to the Post Office.  BlockBuster knows that you have returned the

movie, so they send out your next movie.  NetFlix has not yet received their

movie so they have not sent out there movie.

3.  Wednesday:  You receive your second movie from

BlockBuster Online.  NetFlix has just received the movie you sent on Tuesday.

They ship your next movie.

4.  Thursday or Friday:  You receive your second

movie from NetFlix.

Anyone can clearly see how BlockBuster movies arrive at

least one to two days sooner than NetFlix.

Another reason why I switched is that BlockBuster sends me

coupons that allow me to rent 1 movie per week from their retail store.  This

definitely comes in handy on a Friday night when you assumed you would have

received a movie in the mail but realized you wouldn't get it till the next

day.

If you are interested in renting DVDs online, I recommend

you try both services.  You can try them both free for 1 month (BlockBuster

Online or

NetFlix) then decide which one you want to stay with.  For me however, I

have already decided.

BlockBuster Online Free for 1 Month Here.

The Century Of The Celeberity

Posted by Rylan Mason | 3:27 PM | 0 comments »

The 20th Century was the period when the celebrity culture took off, especially from the 1940s onwards. There were people who enjoyed celebrity status before then, such as Lord Byron and some music hall stars, but they were the exception. The more mass media there is, the more celebrities we seem to acquire. There are many reasons for the advent of the celebrity century and sociologists have studied the subject in depth.

The 1920s and 1930s were the decades of the silent film and stars like Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy were stars. There was glamour too, with Fay Wray and Lillian Gish. Hollywood's biggest contribution to the celebrity century was movie icon Valentino. He was charismatic and handsome, and mobbed wherever he went. Women wept uncontrollably when he died. He was probably the first celebrity as we think of them today.

Movies also dominated in the 1940s, with male stars such as John Wayne, Clarke Gable and Robert Mitchum. The ladies were represented by Greta Garbo, Rita Hayworth and Lana Turner. Sometimes the pressure of the celebrity century and the fame it brought was too much. Garbo famously withdrew from the limelight, saying that she wanted to be left alone.

Movie stars were the royalty of America and people couldn't get enough of them. Scandal was rare then, as they were under the protection of the studios, but if it did break loose then they were finished. It was different then, you'd never see Bette Davis with no make up and her hair undone. They were on duty all the time and they always looked gorgeous. The most exciting celebrity century sensations were the celebrity couples, like Gable and Jean Harlow. All the world loves a lover.

By the late 1950s, the anti hero was in vogue and the celebrity culture was changing. James Dean and Marlon Brando had a bad boy image, which the ladies loved. That led on to the counter culture of the 1960s and movies began to reflect the alternative lifestyles of the young. Rock music was throwing up the biggest icons yet of the celebrity century. The likes of Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger and the Beatles were treated like gods. Performers were celebrities for challenging the establishment.

Celebrities come and go, sometimes lasting a few years and sometimes a few decades. Sport too has contributed its fair share to the celebrity century and fans feel they have a personal stake in their favorite football star or basketball player. Supermodels take a lot of room up in the press and their personal lives are always under scrutiny. Today, the celebrity century seems to have descended into the depths. Nowadays, people want to be famous without putting the work in. We've come a long way from Valentino to the Big Brother contestants.
